The Friends of the Madison Public Library Bookstore
The Friends Bookstore, located on the first floor of the Central Library, sells used and donated books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs, generally for $2 or less. The Friends use sale proceeds to support the Madison Public Library (this includes the Central Library as well as the other neighborhood libraries throughout the City), library programming and services throughout the community.

Theme of the Month
Theme of the Month for May is "Focus on Family" featuring books about marriage and parenting, as well as children's literature. This month, we're also featuring books by Piers Anthony.

New Materials Every Week
The Friends Bookstore is refreshed frequently, with titles rotating in and out. And just because the books are used, doesn’t mean they’re worn: the store has selections ranging from Harry Potter and Tom Clancy, to new fiction, to DIY craft books, cook books, and more!

Volunteer-Run Store
The FMPL Bookstore is staffed with volunteers giving their time to support the Madison Public Library. From cashiering to restocking shelves, the bookstore could not run without its volunteers. Want to join our incredible staff of volunteers? Apply to be a volunteer today.

Special Deals
Feeling lucky? In May, our popular "Blind Date With A Book" special includes books following the "Focus on Family" theme!
